A short film shows the energy of a party. A longer live recording helps you hear track selection, transitions and changes of pace. Ask for music that resembles your occasion: a dinner, an international wedding or a late party may call for different approaches.
Look for relevant experience
Read client reviews and look at the DJ’s role in the events presented. Who prepared the music, who provided the equipment and who coordinated the evening? A familiar name is reassuring; understanding how the DJ works with guests and organisers makes the reference more useful.
Discuss how the music will adapt
Share a few favourites, music to avoid and the mix of generations and cultures attending. Ask how guest requests are handled and whether microphone hosting is part of the performance. A DJ can adjust the selection as the room responds, while keeping the direction agreed with you.
Compare the full scope
Check playing hours, preparation, sound, lighting, microphones, travel and installation. Ask who handles the venue’s technical requirements and what happens if timings change. Compare quotes on the same basis and have the agreed scope and booking conditions set out in writing.
